Construction Calculators

Brick, carpet, wallpaper, and material calculators for construction and renovation projects.

Calculators for estimating a building or renovation job before you buy anything: bricks, cement and sand for a wall, carpet for a room, rolls of wallpaper, steel for a lintel, and an itemised cost estimate to bring it together.

Which tool to pick

  • Brick Calculator: a wall's or a room's worth of bricks, with doors and windows taken off, a waste allowance, and the cement bags and sand for your mix.
  • Carpet Calculator: the carpet area and cost for a room, with an allowance for waste built in.
  • Wallpaper Calculator: how many rolls a room needs once doors and windows are deducted, so you can buy them all from one batch.
  • Lintel Beam Calculator: the main bars, stirrups and total weight of steel for a reinforced concrete lintel over an opening.
  • Material Cost Estimator: everything else: list each material with its quantity and unit price for an itemised total.

Measure, estimate, then price

Start with a tape measure and a sketch of each wall or floor. Write down the length and height of every surface and the size of every door and window. Measure twice: a 5 cm slip barely matters for paint, but it can leave a carpet short at the doorway.

Run the quantity calculators one surface at a time and note each result. For bricks, choose the mix and the bag size your merchant actually sells, so the cement count matches real bags. Carry the quantities into the material cost estimator with your supplier's prices, and you have a list to take to a builders' merchant or home improvement store, or to hold up against a contractor's quote.

About Our Free Construction Calculators

Estimate what a job actually needs: bricks for a wall, carpet for a room, wallpaper for a space, and overall material costs. Each calculator shows its working so you can sanity-check the result rather than trusting a single number.

Every calculation runs in your browser with no server calls, so results are instant and your project details stay on your device.

Treat the output as a considered estimate, not a purchase order. Wastage, cuts, breakages and site conditions all vary, and supplier coverage figures differ between products — check the datasheet for the specific material you're buying and add a sensible allowance on top.
