How to Use Medical Case Summary Generator
- 1Choose the purpose: Clinical Handover, Grand Rounds / Case Presentation, Medicolegal / Insurance, Research / Case Report, or MDT Meeting. This changes the summary substantially.
- 2Paste the case details — history, investigations, diagnosis and management.
- 3Click 'Generate Case Summary'.
- 4Read it against the notes, particularly investigation results and the treatment timeline.
- 5Edit before use, and be aware that a medicolegal or insurance summary carries obligations the other formats do not.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does the purpose setting change the output?
A lot. A handover summary is terse and front-loads what the next clinician must act on. A grand rounds presentation builds the diagnostic reasoning. A medicolegal summary is chronological and factual with no interpretation. An MDT summary leads with the decision being asked for. Picking the wrong one gives you a document that reads well and does the wrong job.
Can I use the medicolegal version in a report?
Only as a first draft you then verify line by line against the record. A medicolegal summary may be relied on in proceedings and carries duties to the court or the instructing party. An unverified AI-generated chronology is not something to put your name to.
Will it preserve the timeline accurately?
It works from what you paste, but summarisation is where models drop qualifiers and compress sequences. For any purpose where the order of events matters — which includes all of them, but especially medicolegal — check the chronology against the source.
Is it suitable for a published case report?
As a drafting aid. Journals have their own structures and consent requirements, and publishing a case report requires documented patient consent that no tool can supply.
What about patient identifiers?
Keep them out, and be especially careful here: case summaries often contain rare combinations of detail that can identify a patient even without a name. For research and publication, that is a consent and anonymisation question for your ethics process.
About Medical Case Summary Generator
The Medical Case Summary Generator condenses a full case into a summary written for one of five specific purposes — handover, teaching, medicolegal, research, or MDT — because those are genuinely different documents rather than the same summary at different lengths.
That distinction is the whole point. A handover needs what the next clinician must act on in the first two lines. A medicolegal summary needs a plain chronology with the interpretation stripped out. A grand rounds presentation needs the diagnostic reasoning laid out in the order it unfolded. Generating the right one saves rewriting; generating the wrong one produces something fluent and unusable.
Summarisation is where language models most reliably lose a qualifier or compress a sequence, and every one of these purposes depends on the timeline being right. Check the chronology and the investigation results against the source record before the summary is used.
Two things specific to this tool. Medicolegal and insurance summaries may be relied on formally and need verifying line by line before you put your name to one. And case detail can identify a patient without a name attached, so keep identifiers out and treat publication as a consent and ethics question. Your input goes to our own AI server over HTTPS, is used once, and is never stored or used for training. If our server is down, a backup AI provider may handle the request under its own data policy.
