How to Use Doctor's Note Generator

  1. 1This drafts certificates for clinicians to review, amend and sign. It is not a way to obtain one — only the treating clinician can certify a patient's condition or fitness.
  2. 2Enter the medical condition and choose the note type: Work Absence, School Absence, Fitness to Return to Work, Fitness to Travel / Fly, or Activity Restrictions.
  3. 3Set the duration or period covered — '3 days', '2 weeks'.
  4. 4Add any specific restrictions ('no heavy lifting, desk duties only, no flying'), and the patient and issuing doctor names if you want them filled in.
  5. 5Generate, then check every date and restriction, amend as clinically appropriate, and sign only if you are the treating clinician and it reflects your own assessment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use this to get a sick note without seeing a doctor?

No. This produces draft wording; it certifies nothing. A medical certificate is a statement by a named clinician about a patient they have assessed, and presenting a self-generated document as one is fraud — against an employer, a school or an insurer. If you need a certificate, see a clinician.

Is a generated note legally valid?

Only once a treating clinician has reviewed it, amended it to reflect their own assessment, and signed it. The signature and the assessment behind it are what give a certificate any standing — not the wording.

What does the fitness-to-fly note need?

Airlines usually have their own form and their own criteria, often with a time limit before departure. Use this for the clinical wording and expect to transfer it onto the carrier's document.

Does it match my country's statutory form?

No. Statutory sickness certification uses defined forms and defined wording in most jurisdictions — the UK fit note and its equivalents elsewhere. This drafts the clinical content; the statutory form is separate and takes precedence.

Should I enter patient details?

Keep identifiable data out. Draft with the condition, period and restrictions, and add the patient's details on your own system when you produce the signed certificate.

About Doctor's Note Generator

The Doctor's Note Generator drafts the wording of a medical certificate — work or school absence, fitness to return, fitness to fly, or activity restrictions — from a condition, a period and any restrictions that apply.

It is a drafting aid for clinicians and nothing else. A certificate has standing because a named clinician who assessed the patient signed it; the text is the smallest part of that. Producing one of these and presenting it to an employer, a school or an insurer without a clinician's assessment behind it is fraud, and the tool cannot make it otherwise.

Used as intended, the value is in the restrictions wording. 'Unfit for work' is easy to write and hard to act on; 'desk duties only, no lifting above 5kg, review in two weeks' tells an employer what to do and usually gets the patient back sooner. The structured restrictions field is there to make that the default rather than the exception.

Statutory certification forms take precedence wherever they exist, airlines have their own fitness-to-fly documents and criteria, and identifiable patient data should not be entered here. Your input goes to our own AI server over HTTPS, is used once, and is never stored or used for training. If our server is down, a backup AI provider may handle the request under its own data policy.
