Emoji in professional messages are fine now (even expected in many workplaces) but the choice matters. Stick to the calm ones: ✅ for confirmation, 👀 for "looking into it", 🙏 for thanks. Avoid anything with strong emotion (😭, 🤯) or ambiguity (🍆, 🍑) in work channels. When you're unsure how an emoji reads, that's exactly when to search its meaning first.
One more rule: never use emoji as a substitute for actual information. "Meeting moved 📅" tells nobody anything. "Meeting moved to 3pm 📅" does. The emoji adds tone; the words carry the facts.

Why can't I find an emoji by its exact name?
Search by an everyday word instead. Each emoji has a name and a few keywords; '🍕', for instance, matches pizza, food, party, italy, cheese and slice. Try a shorter word, since partial matches count: 'cel' finds celebrate.
Will the emoji look the same everywhere?
The meaning is the same, but each platform draws its own version, so an emoji copied here may look a little different on an iPhone, Android phone, Windows PC or in a particular app. Very new emoji may show as an empty box on older devices.
How do I type emoji without this tool?
On Windows, press Windows key + . (full stop); on a Mac, Control + Command + Space; on phones, use the emoji key on the keyboard. A finder is quicker when you know the meaning but not where the emoji lives in those menus.
Can I use emoji in code or URLs?
Emoji are ordinary Unicode characters, so they work in HTML, JSON and most programming languages that use UTF-8. In URLs they're percent-encoded, which works but is hard to read and share.
What's the difference between similar emoji, like 🙂 and 😊?
Subtle but real. 🙂 (slightly smiling face) reads neutral to polite: safe for work. 😊 (smiling face with smiling eyes) reads warm and friendly. In a professional message, the first is safer; with friends, the second is warmer. When in doubt, search the meaning first.
Why do some emoji have skin tone options and others don't?
Only emoji that depict people (faces, hands, professions, activities) support skin tones. Objects, animals, food, and symbols don't, because there's nothing to tint. If you don't see tone options, the emoji simply doesn't support them.
