How to Use Travel Budget Planner

  1. 1Enter the destination, duration and number of travellers — solo, couple, three, four, or family with children.
  2. 2Pick a budget level: Budget / Backpacker, Mid-Range, or Luxury / Premium.
  3. 3Describe the trip and anything already booked or fixed.
  4. 4Click 'Plan Travel Budget'.
  5. 5You get a category breakdown with tips. Treat the figures as rough orders of magnitude and price the big items — flights and accommodation — against real listings.

Frequently Asked Questions

How accurate are the cost estimates?

Rough at best. They come from a model's general sense of a destination, not from live pricing, and they cannot reflect the season you are travelling in, current exchange rates or how prices have moved since its training data. Use them to sanity-check a plan, not to set a budget you will hold yourself to.

What should I price properly myself?

Flights and accommodation, always — they are usually the two largest lines and the two that vary most by date. Once those are real numbers, the estimated daily spend is a reasonable frame for the rest.

Does it include a contingency?

Add one regardless. Ten to fifteen percent over your planned total absorbs the ordinary surprises, and a budget with no slack turns every minor overrun into a decision about whether to cancel something.

How does budget level change the output?

It shifts the assumptions behind every line — hostel versus mid-range hotel versus premium, street food versus restaurants, public transport versus taxis. The structure stays the same; the numbers and the tips change.

Does it handle group and family costs properly?

It scales for the number of travellers you set, including a family option. Check anything where children are priced differently, since child rates and family tickets vary enormously and are often not a simple fraction of the adult price.

About Travel Budget Planner

The Travel Budget Planner produces a category-by-category budget for a trip — accommodation, transport, food, activities and the rest — scaled to the number of travellers and a budget level, with practical tips for each line.

Its usefulness is structural rather than numerical. The common way a travel budget fails is by omission: airport transfers, tourist taxes, tips, data roaming, the visa fee. A complete category breakdown surfaces those before the trip rather than during it.

The figures themselves are orders of magnitude from a model's general impression of a destination, not live prices, and they cannot know your travel dates or current exchange rates. Price flights and accommodation against real listings — those two lines usually dominate the total and vary most.

Add ten to fifteen percent of contingency whatever the tool says. A budget with no slack turns an ordinary overrun into a decision about cancelling something you came for. Your input goes to our own AI server over HTTPS, is used once, and is never stored or used for training. If our server is down, a backup AI provider may handle the request under its own data policy.
