Frequently Asked Questions
Are the multiple-choice distractors any good?
They're written to be plausible rather than obviously wrong, which is the thing that separates a quiz that tests knowledge from one that tests elimination. Still read them: a distractor that's accidentally also correct is the classic failure mode, and only you know your syllabus well enough to catch it.
Is there an answer key?
Yes, as a separate section at the end, so you can copy the questions to students without it.
Should I check the answers before using the quiz?
Always. AI gets facts wrong, particularly dates, figures and anything where a small detail matters. A wrong answer key in a graded assessment is a much bigger problem than the few minutes checking takes.
What does 'Mixed' question type give me?
A spread across the formats — some multiple choice, some short answer, some true/false. That's usually better for a real assessment, since different formats test different things, but single-format sets are easier to mark at speed.
Can I use this for a graded exam?
Only after checking every question and answer against your source material. It's well suited to low-stakes retrieval practice and starters as-is; for anything that counts towards a grade, the verification step isn't optional.
About Quiz Question Generator
The Quiz Question Generator produces 5 to 20 questions on a topic at a grade level and difficulty you set, in a single format or mixed, with an answer key at the end. Questions are ordered from simpler to more complex, so the set works as a quiz rather than a random pile.
Distractor quality is what makes multiple choice worth setting at all, and it's where generated quizzes usually fall down. The tool is told to make wrong answers plausible — the sort a student who half-remembers the topic would pick — rather than obviously discardable.
The difficulty setting is worth using deliberately. Easy questions check that the material was received; hard ones check whether it can be applied. A starter quiz and an end-of-unit assessment want different settings, and generating both takes no longer than generating one.
Check every question and its answer before the quiz reaches students. Language models get dates, figures and fine distinctions wrong with complete confidence, and an error in an answer key costs you more time to unpick than the check would have taken. Your topic is sent to our own AI server over HTTPS, used once, and never stored or used for training. If our server is down, a backup AI provider may handle the request under its own data policy.
