How to Use AI Cover Letter Generator

  1. 1Choose where you're applying: the United States, the United Kingdom or elsewhere. This sets the spelling, the date format, the greeting and sign-off, and the paper size.
  2. 2Enter the job title and company and paste the job advert. Add the hiring manager's name if you know it.
  3. 3Bring in your experience: press "Use my CV from the CV builder" if you've made a CV here, or type the roles, results and skills you want to mention. Add why you want to work there and what matters most, if you like.
  4. 4Pick a tone and length and press "Write my letter". Then edit it, fill in any [placeholders], and use "Make it shorter" or "Polish wording" if you want.
  5. 5Check the preview and download the letter as a PDF that matches your CV, as a Word file, or copy the text into an email or application form.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the AI make things up?

It can, so the tool works to stop it and to catch it. The AI is told to use only the facts in your experience, never to claim a skill just because the advert asks for it, and to leave a placeholder such as [project name] where a detail is missing. Before it writes, the tool also names the qualifications, short-form skills (such as IFRS or SQL) and people management the advert asks for but your details don't mention, so the AI knows to leave them out. Afterwards it checks the letter and points out figures you didn't give, any of those skills it mentions anyway, a claim to have managed a team, praise for the employer that the advert doesn't support, and placeholders left to fill in. Always read the letter before you send it: the AI can still overstate things these checks don't catch.

What's the difference between a US and a UK cover letter?

They're very similar. A US letter usually opens "Dear Ms. Rivera:" with a colon and ends "Sincerely,", uses American spelling and dates like October 11, 2026, and goes on Letter paper. A UK letter opens "Dear Ms Khan," and ends "Yours sincerely," when you know the name or "Yours faithfully," when you don't, uses British spelling and dates like 11 October 2026, and goes on A4.

How long should a cover letter be?

Usually under one page: three or four short paragraphs, about 250 to 400 words. Choose Short for around 200 words, for example for an online form, or Standard for around 320. The tool warns you if the letter runs over 420 words.

What should a cover letter include?

The job you're applying for and why you suit it, two or three specific examples from your experience that match what the advert asks for, why you want to work for this employer, and a short close saying you'd welcome an interview. Concrete results, such as cutting a process from ten days to six, say more than adjectives like "hard-working".

Is my personal information sent to the AI?

Only the job details and the experience text you choose to send. Your name, email, phone and address are added to the letter in your browser and never sent, and your draft is saved only on this device.

Can I make the letter match my CV?

Yes. Importing your CV from the CV builder also brings in its font, colour and paper size, so the PDF letter has the same look as your CV. You can change the font, colour and paper here too.

About AI Cover Letter Generator

This AI cover letter generator writes a cover letter for a specific job from your real experience. Paste the job advert, bring in your work history from the CV builder or type it, and the AI writes three or four focused paragraphs that match your experience to what the employer is asking for.

It writes to the conventions of where you're applying, with US or UK spelling, dates, greeting and sign-off, and paper size, and it adds your contact details and the greeting and sign-off itself, so they never go to the AI. You can edit every word, shorten or polish the letter, and see exactly how it will look.

Download it as a PDF with selectable text that matches your CV's design, as a Word document for applications that ask for one, or as plain text to paste into an email or form. Your draft stays in your browser.
