How to Use Interview Question Generator

  1. 1Enter the job title and seniority: Junior / Entry-Level, Mid-Level, Senior / Lead, or Executive / C-Suite.
  2. 2Pick the interview type — Competency / Behavioural (STAR), Technical / Skills, Culture Fit & Values, Situational, Leadership & Management, or Mixed.
  3. 3List the key skills or areas to assess: 'React, system design, stakeholder management, Agile'.
  4. 4Click 'Generate Interview Questions'.
  5. 5Use the same core questions for every candidate for the role — a structured interview is both fairer and a better predictor than a conversational one.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a STAR question?

A behavioural question that asks for a specific past example, which the candidate answers as Situation, Task, Action, Result. 'Tell me about a time you had to deliver with an incomplete spec' produces evidence; 'how do you handle ambiguity' produces a theory about themselves.

Why use the same questions for every candidate?

Structured interviews — same questions, same order, scored against defined criteria — are substantially more predictive of job performance than unstructured ones, and they are much easier to defend if a hiring decision is ever challenged. Generating one set and reusing it is the point.

How does the seniority setting change the questions?

Junior questions probe potential, learning and fundamentals. Senior questions probe judgement, trade-offs and influence without authority. Executive questions probe strategy and organisational impact. Asking senior questions of a graduate tells you nothing except that they are a graduate.

Can I ask anything the tool generates?

Check them first. Questions touching age, health, disability, religion, marital or family status, or nationality are unlawful in most jurisdictions even when asked casually or with good intent. If any generated question strays near a protected characteristic, cut it.

Does it provide scoring guidance?

It provides the question set. Decide in advance what a strong, adequate and weak answer looks like for each one and write that down before the first interview — scoring criteria invented afterwards tend to describe whoever you already liked.

About Interview Question Generator

The Interview Question Generator produces a structured question guide for a specific role and seniority, in the interview format you choose — behavioural, technical, situational, values-based, leadership, or a mix.

The reason to use a generated set rather than improvising is evidence rather than convenience. Structured interviews, where every candidate gets the same questions scored against pre-agreed criteria, predict job performance considerably better than conversational ones, and they hold up far better if a hiring decision is challenged.

Seniority changes the questions more than the job title does. The useful question for a junior candidate probes how they learn; the useful question for a senior one probes a trade-off they made and what it cost. Setting it correctly is what stops the guide being a generic list.

Two things before you use the set: check nothing strays near a protected characteristic — age, health, disability, religion, family status and nationality are off limits in most jurisdictions however casually asked — and write down what a strong answer looks like for each question before the first interview, not after. Your input goes to our own AI server over HTTPS, is used once, and is never stored or used for training. If our server is down, a backup AI provider may handle the request under its own data policy.
