AI CV Builder

Free CV maker and resume builder with AI writing help, your photo and six ATS-friendly templates. Download as PDF or Word.

AI on request. Everything you type stays in your browser until you press an AI button; then only the text for that suggestion is sent to our AI service. Our own server doesn't store it or use it for training; if it's down, a backup AI provider may handle it. How we handle your input

How to Use AI CV Builder

  1. 1Choose where you're applying: a US résumé (Letter paper, no photo, US spelling), a UK CV (A4, no photo, UK spelling) or an international CV. Then choose how to start: 'Write it with AI', 'Import my old CV' (PDF, Word or text), or 'Start from a template'.
  2. 2Fill in or correct each section on the Content tab. Use the ✨ buttons to have the AI write your summary, turn notes into bullet points or suggest skills; nothing changes until you click 'Use this'.
  3. 3Add a photo if you want one and crop it to a circle or square. Drag sections into the order you prefer and hide the ones you don't need.
  4. 4On the Design tab, pick a template, accent colour, font, spacing and paper size. The preview is the real PDF, so it shows exactly what you'll download.
  5. 5Open 'ATS check' to see your score and what to fix, paste a job advert to see which keywords you're missing, then download your CV as PDF, Word or plain text.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does ATS-friendly mean?

Most large employers and job portals pass CVs through an applicant tracking system (ATS), which reads the text and matches it to the job. The five single-column templates keep text in reading order with standard headings, real text (not images) and no tables or text boxes, so an ATS reads every line. The two-column template is clearly marked as best for emailing a CV directly.

Will the AI make things up?

It is instructed to use only what you give it: it never adds employers, dates, degrees or numbers. Where a figure would make a point stronger and you haven't given one, it writes a placeholder such as [X%], and the editor highlights it until you fill it in or remove it. Always read what it writes before you use it.

Is my information private?

Your CV, contact details and photo stay in your browser and are saved only on this device. The AI buttons send just the text needed for that job, such as your job notes or a job advert, to our AI service to write the suggestion; your name, email, phone and photo are never sent. Our own server doesn't store it or use it for training.

Should I put a photo on my CV?

It depends on where you apply. Photos are expected in Pakistan, the Gulf and much of Europe and Asia, but usually left off in the US, UK, Canada and Australia, where employers avoid them to prevent bias. The 'Professional with photo' and 'Two-column' templates have a photo slot; the others leave it out.

What's the difference between a US résumé and a UK CV?

Mostly length, paper and conventions. A US résumé is usually one page (two for 10+ years' experience), on US Letter paper, with American spelling and often a GPA for recent graduates. A UK CV is usually two pages on A4, opens with a personal statement, uses British spelling and gives degree classifications such as 2:1. Neither includes a photo, date of birth or marital status. Pick US résumé or UK CV and the builder sets the paper, hides the photo, writes in that spelling and checks for those rules.

How long should a résumé or CV be?

In the US, one page is the norm for students and anyone with under about 10 years' experience, and two pages for longer careers. In the UK, two pages is standard. Academic CVs, in both countries, can be longer. The ATS check flags a US résumé that runs to two pages with under 10 years of experience, and any CV over two pages.

Can I download my CV in Word format?

Yes. 'Word' downloads a .docx with real headings and bullet lists that opens in Microsoft Word, Google Docs and LibreOffice, ready for portals and recruiters that ask for Word. 'Text' gives plain text for application forms with a paste-in box.

How does the job advert match work?

Paste an advert on the ATS check tab. The tool finds its most repeated skills, tools and phrases, shows which ones your CV already contains, and lets you add missing ones to your skills with a click. The AI can also rewrite your summary or a job's bullet points to use the advert's wording where it's true for you.

Can I edit my CV later?

Yes. It's saved in this browser automatically, so it's there when you come back. 'Save as file' downloads your CV data so you can open it on another device or keep versions for different jobs.

About AI CV Builder

The AI CV Builder helps you write a professional CV and gives you a file employers' systems can read. Start from your old CV, from a few sentences about your work, or from a blank template, and the AI turns rough notes into a summary, achievement-focused bullet points and a skills list, without inventing anything.

Six templates cover the formats employers expect: Classic for banking, law and government, Modern and Compact for corporate and technical roles, Executive for senior positions, Professional with a photo for regions where photos are standard, and a Two-column design for emailing directly. Fonts, colours, spacing and paper size (A4 or US Letter) are yours to set, and the preview is the real PDF.

It writes to the conventions of where you're applying. Choose US résumé and it uses Letter paper, American spelling and US terms, leaves off the photo and warns about personal details US employers don't want; choose UK CV for A4, British spelling and a personal statement; or keep an international CV with an optional photo.

A built-in ATS check scores the CV against the things recruiters and tracking systems look for, such as contact details, dates, quantified results, action verbs and length, and explains every point lost. Download as PDF with selectable text, as a Word document, or as plain text.
