Each country uses its current published rates, checked on 1 November 2026. Every tax year in your job is worked out with these tables, so years before them are estimates.

What it leaves out
US state and local income tax, Canadian provincial tax, India professional tax, Australian HECS-HELP repayments, UK student loans and Scottish income tax rates aren't built in. Nor are other income, investment gains, tax credits beyond those in the table, or exemptions for particular allowances. If any of these matter for you, switch to "My own rate" and enter the overall rate from your payslip, or use the country calculators linked below for a single year in detail.
- UK Take-Home Pay Calculator: UK take-home pay for one year, with tax codes, Scottish rates and student loans.
- Paycheck Calculator: US paychecks with state tax, filing status and pre-tax benefits.
How to Use Advanced Salary Calculator
- 1Pick your country, then enter your starting basic salary as a monthly or yearly figure.
- 2Enter your joining month and the current month, and say whether you still work there. The result covers every month in between.
- 3Add each salary raise with the month it started and your new basic salary.
- 4Fill in your monthly allowances: house rent, medical, conveyance and anything else.
- 5Set your provident fund or pension as a percentage of basic or a fixed amount per month, for your share and your employer's, tick whether your share is taken before tax, and add a yearly profit rate if the fund earns one.
- 6Read the totals for gross salary, take-home pay, the fund and income tax, then check the tax-year table and the per-salary-level table to see what each raise changed.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between total salary and take-home pay?
Total salary here is your gross pay: basic salary plus allowances plus bonus, over the whole period from joining to now. Take-home pay is what's left after income tax, payroll contributions such as National Insurance or CPP and EI, your own provident fund or pension contribution, and any other monthly deductions. Your employer's contribution isn't part of take-home pay; it goes into your fund.
How is tax worked out over several years?
The months you worked are grouped into your country's tax years: January to December in the US and Canada, April to March in the UK and India, July to June in Pakistan and Australia. Each year is taxed on what it actually paid, assuming this job is your only income. If you still work there, the tax year you're in now is taxed as your share of a full year at today's pay, which is how payroll deducts it.
How does the calculator handle a salary raise?
Add the raise with its effective month and your new basic salary. Every month from then on uses the new basic for pay, fund contributions and tax. The per-salary-level table shows the old and new monthly tax and take-home side by side, so you can see what the raise was worth after deductions.
Can I enter provident fund as a fixed amount instead of a percentage?
Yes. Your share and your employer's can each be a percentage of basic salary or a fixed amount per month, and the employer share can be switched off. Fixed deductions are common, for example an employer that takes 2,000 a month whatever the salary. In India, many employers cap EPF at 12% of Rs 15,000 (Rs 1,800 a month): enter that as a fixed amount.
Is my pension or provident fund taken before tax?
It depends on the country, so there's a tick box. A traditional US 401(k), UK pension contributions and Canadian RRSP contributions reduce taxable income, so the box starts ticked for those. In Pakistan and in India's new tax regime your contribution comes out of taxed salary, so it starts unticked. Change it to match your payslip.
Which countries and tax years does it cover?
The United States (2026 federal tax, single filer), the United Kingdom (2026/27, England, Wales and Northern Ireland), Pakistan (tax year 2026-27, Finance Act 2026), India (tax year 2026-27, new regime), Australia (2026-27 resident rates) and Canada (2026 federal), plus a custom option with your own rate. The current tables are used for every year, so totals for older jobs are estimates. State and provincial tax, India professional tax, HECS-HELP and UK student loans aren't included.
How is gratuity estimated?
For India, it follows the Code on Social Security 2020: 15 days' wages for each year of service (last monthly basic plus DA, divided by 26, times 15) after five years, with a final part-year of over six months counted as a year, capped at Rs 20 lakh. If your allowances are more than half your pay, the excess counts as wages. For Pakistan, schemes differ by employer, so you enter how many months of last basic it pays per year (one is common). Other countries don't use gratuity, so the option is hidden.
Is my salary data sent anywhere?
No. The whole calculation runs in your browser. Nothing you enter leaves your device, and there is no account or signup.
About Advanced Salary Calculator
The Advanced Salary Calculator works out what a job actually paid over its whole length, not just one month. Enter your joining month, your starting basic salary and every raise since, and it totals your gross salary, allowances, bonus, provident fund or pension with the employer share and growth, income tax and take-home pay, plus the average monthly and yearly figures.
It's built for people whose pay changed over time. A raise halfway through a job changes both the fund and the tax, and the calculator shows both effects tax year by tax year and salary level by salary level. Country rules are built in for the US, UK, Pakistan, India, Australia and Canada, with a custom rate for anywhere else. Every figure is an estimate from the published tax tables listed below, not tax advice.
