Checking the preview before you download

The preview is the point of the tool: a best-effort extraction should never be trusted blind. Look down each column and check that values sit under the right heading, especially where a description wraps onto two lines or a row has an empty cell — an empty cell can pull the rest of the row one column to the left. When a row is wrong, fix it in Excel after downloading; the preview itself is read-only.

Two things to check first: the header row, and any row with a figure that looks out of place, such as a total sitting in the description column. A quick scan of those catches most misalignments. Rows that look right in the preview are the rows you get in the download, cell for cell.

What to do with the spreadsheet next

Once the spreadsheet is downloaded, it is an ordinary .xlsx file: sort it, filter it, total a column, or paste it into your accounts. When the source file needs a different treatment first, these fit around it:

  • PDF to Word: turn the same PDF into an editable document instead of a spreadsheet.
  • PDF to Text: pull out all the text when you need words, not tables.
  • PDF Merger: combine several statements into one PDF before converting.
  • PDF Splitter: pull out just the pages with tables from a long file first.

How to Use PDF to Excel

  1. 1Drop a PDF into the upload area.
  2. 2Click 'Extract tables'.
  3. 3Check the preview grid. One sheet per page is the default; switch to 'All in one sheet' to stack the pages and drop any header row that repeats.
  4. 4When the file has more than one page, pick a page to preview from the dropdown.
  5. 5Click 'Download .xlsx' for the spreadsheet, or 'Download CSV' for the grid you are previewing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the PDF to Excel converter free?

Yes — free, no signup.

Does it upload my file?

No — the conversion runs in your browser, so your file never leaves your device.

Will it work on a scanned PDF?

No — scanned pages have no text layer to extract from, so they won't work in this version. It works on text-based PDFs: bank statements, invoices, reports and numeric tables.

Will my formulas survive the conversion?

No — a PDF stores the rendered values, not live formulas, so the spreadsheet gets values you can total and sort yourself.

How accurate is the extraction?

Best-effort — tables are rebuilt from the spacing of the text, so check the preview and fix any misaligned cells in Excel before you rely on it.

About PDF to Excel

PDF to Excel turns the tables in a PDF into a real spreadsheet you can sort, filter and total. Drop in a bank statement, invoice or report, check the preview grid, then download a .xlsx file — one sheet per page, or everything stacked in one sheet with repeated headers dropped.

A PDF has no tables inside it, only words placed at positions on the page, so the tool rebuilds rows and columns from the spacing of the text. That makes extraction best-effort: clean tables with clear gaps between columns come out well, while dense or multi-column layouts may need cells moved in Excel. Numbers, dates and currencies become real spreadsheet values where they can be read safely; anything ambiguous stays as text rather than risk being mangled — account numbers above all.

Everything runs in your browser, so statements and invoices never leave your device. Scanned pages have no text to read and are skipped with a plain message; this version doesn't read scans, keep formatting, charts or images, or carry formulas over — a PDF stores rendered values, not live formulas.
